Instant immortality (and a date with Philly artist SDR)

Here's the dispatch from SDR, who is firing up all his rockets to sustain his . . . art. --Lisa, a.k.a. "Big Momma"

*****************

Hey -- want to be my next "Situation"?

Now that I'm a "featured artist" at The Presto Gallery, I'm under a lot of pressure to keep cranking out the art. Since my "Situations" series is inspired by the fine ladies who have shared a bit of twenty-first century quality time with me--how ever long or short that time may be--I thought I would invite all of you to get in touch. You may be immortalized in watercolor. You may inspire a whole new series. Either way, we could start with a beer.

Otherwise I'll keep having to rely on fate to furnish lost keys, spilled drinks, shy smiles and other . . . Situations.

Pinky: the most nutritious Ugly.

When 2.5-year-old Cameryn met her new Ugly, she thought it was quite a funny coincidence that her binky (pacifier) had been phased out in exactly the same 48-hour period that Pinky should arrive, with her long, pointy, chewable ears and equally tempting tail.

Pinky formerly went by the name of "Uglydog," but that doesn't sound (or taste) ANYTHING like "binky." And that, my friends, is how a new handle is born.

Pinky loves every minute of it. The pair continue to reach new levels of outfit coordination and interspecies, non-verbal communication.

The Uglies have landed, and are making themselves useful.

Maybe these guys feel the need to make up for the fact that they're known as "Ugly Dolls" (even if they are pretty far on the cute side of ugly). In any case, not long after their arrival these four got right down to testing the rocking chair where I'll be feeding our daughter when she arrives. Pretty darn nice of them, especially considering how frustrating it must have been not to have enough leverage to make the thing rock. But then again, I think that they were rocking in their own, quiet Ugly way.

Thanks guys, and welcome to Presto.

Online gallery store opening

Here at Presto Gallery, we are very excited to be launching our online store. The site is being designed as I write this, and should be live by August 2007! That means getting rad toys in the hands of the millions of people who live too far away to come in to see us in San Francisco. And as far as we're concerned, it's only fair that fun people everywhere should have equally fun toys.

And of course . . . there's the art! For the early-comers, there will be one free toy with every art purchase (for a limited time). We're reinforcing our doors and walls to prepare for the rush of urban art/toy lovers with bare walls and shelves to populate . . .

Check us out soon.
